Junior Development Day at KMT Muay Thai

This event is May 19th, Weigh in and check ins at 10am and open mat sparring will start at 10.30am (all athletes participate) and the medal matches will begin after that. Spectators and open mat sparring junior participants are free and students competing in medal matches need a Muaythai NSW indivdual membership to register.

Muaythai Australia is committed to continuously developing the art of Muaythai from a grass roots level up.

We would like to invite juniors from 6yo to 13yo to participate in padded events like this to develop their skills before moving onto the bigger fight promotions interstate or as a registered athlete from 14yo upwards.

We have added a free open mat sparring portion for kids keen to get a feel for a development day without the pressure of a winner or loser. This matches are non head contact and you will need to bring your own gloves, shin pads, chest protector, mouthguard and groin guard (for males). 

Junior Development Day Medal matches are competed in full padding which includes headgear, elbow pads, body armour, cotton shin guards and 10oz  gloves brought in by the athletes. light head contact rules will be done in 16 oz gloves that Muaythai NSW will provide

Junior participants DO NOT need to be registered with the NSW Combat Sports Authority as this is NOT a fight.

Rulesets by Age:

6-8 year olds - Strikes allowed Above the waist and below the shoulders only, No elbows 3 x 1 min rounds

8-10 year olds - Strikes below the shoulders only, No elbows 3 x1 min rounds

10-12 year olds - Strike below the shoudlers only, Elbows allowed 3 x 90s rounds

12-13 year olds - Light head contaced allowed with 16 oz gloves (Supplied by Muaythai NSW), No knees, teeps or Heel contact to the head/Face 3 x90s rounds

Kids must have a individual membership to participate, it includes Muaythai NSW Singlet and Shorts on first time sign up plus entry to all Junior events for the calendar year

Spectators are free to come watch and support

Reminder for Parents, Teams and Supporters that come to these events are expected to act in a respectful and posiitve manner, any rude or disrespectful behaviour towards officals, other teams or volunteers with result in you and your team being ejected from the event.
